Meet Local Artist:Alilboy’s Love Letter to the World

Botswana’s music scene is brimming with fresh talent and unique sounds and leading the charge is none other than Alilboy, the soulful DJ and producer from Thamaga who’s turning heads with his infectious beats and heartfelt storytelling. With his latest single “Love Letter” making waves across the country and even going viral on TikTok, Alilboy is proving he’s more than just a beat-maker he’s a movement.

When asked what sparked his journey into music, Alilboy says it all started with a deep love for music. “Listening to music motivated me to get involved in the game, but in a different way,” he explains. “I wanted to use both my mother and father tongue Setswana and English to create a unique flavor.”

Growing up in Thamaga, a village rich in culture and community spirit, deeply shaped his sound. “Thamaga gave me the finest care and the most responsive fans. That kind of support made me strive to continuously improve and make better music,” he says.

His early days were filled with challenges, but he turned obstacles into stepping stones. He taught himself music production by watching YouTube tutorials, learning how to transform weak songs into powerful messages that elevate Botswana’s music scene.

One name that stands out when Alilboy talks about inspiration is Master KG. “He motivated me to set high standards and stay committed to quality,” Alilboy shares. That drive has led him to not only improve his own sound but to uplift those around him.

Alilboy’s latest single, Love Letter, is a heartfelt tribute to love and connection. “Loving someone should be the easiest, simplest, and sweetest decision,” he says. “This song is a testament to how everything falls into place when you’re with the right person.”

Inspired by the importance of peace in relationships, the track blends emotional depth with infectious rhythms. Unlike his earlier songs, Love Letter has a universal vibe it fits perfectly at bars, weddings, parties, political rallies, or even cultural events.

The creative process? Smooth as silk. “Nothing disturbed me while working on the song,” he says, “and there were no challenges either.”

With Love Letter gaining momentum, especially on TikTok, Alilboy feels like he’s hitting his stride. “It’s what my fans love the most right now,” he beams. He credits the success to a strong support system, including artists and collaborators like Mansize, DJ Guyvos, DJ Ngwazi, and his manager Pixel Promotions.

His hope for listeners? “That it brings them happiness and makes them want to dance.”

And though his sound has matured, his roots remain unchanged. “At first, I wasn’t sure people would vibe with my music. But now, I’m seeing the results of staying true to myself.”

So what’s next for Alilboy? “More singles are on the way,” he teases. And when it comes to dream collabs, Lioness Ratang is at the top of his list. “She uses Setswana beautifully, and together, we could create something special.”

Describing his sound in three words? “Nice, Fire, and Killer.”

He dreams of one day performing at the Gaabo Motho festival an event that celebrates culture, unity, and of course, music.

If Love Letter were in a movie, it would definitely score a tender relationship scene. Alilboy’s own playlist lately? No surprise it’s Love Letter on repeat.

If he could give his younger self one piece of advice, it would be this: “The music industry is full of both opportunities and challenges. Self-promotion is key, and streaming platforms are your best friend. But you need to master marketing too.”

Off the stage, RnB music fuels his creativity and reminds him that emotion is at the heart of great storytelling.

Alilboy’s journey is just getting started, and fans can expect more music and collaborations soon. To keep up with him, check out all major streaming platforms and follow him on social media for updates, behind-the-scenes content, and upcoming shows.
