Dioactive: Fashioned by Purpose
Meet Keletso Kolobo the woman redefining activewear for women, one confident step at a time.
For many, fashion is an aesthetic choice. But for the founder of Dioactive, fashion became a form of healing, empowerment, and rediscovery. Her journey into fashion design wasn’t born in design school or luxury studios, but rather from a deeply personal transformation, a story of identity, motherhood, and the power of movement.
“I grew into my 20s with a smaller body frame,” she shares, “but everything changed after I was blessed with a beautiful pregnancy and a healthy baby. My physical appearance shifted drastically, and along with that, my mental health took a hit.”
Feeling as if she was starting over, physically, emotionally, and mentally, she sought therapy. That’s where fitness came in. “In 2022, my therapist suggested I begin a fitness routine to reclaim control of my well-being. As I leaned into that journey, I realized how powerful the right activewear could be.”
But there was a problem. Most activewear didn’t flatter her new body. It didn’t make her feel strong. So, she decided to design something that did.
From Healing to Hustle: The Birth of Dioactive
The idea to start her own fashion brand came from a place of vulnerability, but also incredible strength. “I needed something that embraced me while I worked on becoming the best version of myself. And from talking with other women in the fitness community, I knew I wasn’t alone in that struggle.”
That spark became Dioactive, an activewear brand for women who are “in progress,” in motion, and in their power.
The defining moment came in 2019 when Dioactive launched its first collection: The Staple Leggings. “The response blew me away,” she recalls. “The feedback, the reviews, the messages from women saying how confident they felt, it gave me chills. That’s when I knew: this isn’t just a product. It’s purpose.”
More Than Just a Brand
At its core, Dioactive is about connection and celebration. “We design for the mother, the CEO, the student, the woman who’s just showing up. When you put on Dioactive, we want you to feel seen and rooted in something bigger. Whether you’re in a pink set on a walk or sweating it out in blue at the gym, another woman is doing the same. You’re not alone, you’re part of a sisterhood.”
Dioactive blends high-performance design with sleek, timeless style. “From seamless leggings and supportive sports bras to versatile hoodies and tees, our pieces are built to move with you, not against you.”
And what sets the brand apart? “It’s made by a woman, for women. We’re not just addressing fit, we’re addressing what it means to show up and be seen. Dioactive is the physical manifestation of a bigger message: you are enough, right now, in motion, in progress.”
Designing with Intention
Her design process begins with a feeling. “Every collection starts with a mood, a story. How do we want women to feel in these pieces? Powerful? Elevated? Put it together?”
From there, her team dives into color palettes, fabric choices, and fit. “Our Define Collection, for instance, was built around the concept of self-expression, how we define our identity through movement.”
She draws inspiration from her own journey and the women around her. “Africa is bold, beautiful, and brimming with strength. I see that in every woman who wears Dioactive. Trends don’t define us, we set our own pace. If a trend doesn’t align with our mission, we don’t follow it.”
The Realities of Building a Brand
Building Dioactive wasn’t without challenges. “I had no professional fashion background. I was learning as I built, balancing creativity with business. There were nights of self-doubt, but the purpose always brought me back.”
What keeps her going? “I think of the women I’m doing this for, including myself. When I walk on purpose, others see that and feel empowered to walk theirs too. This dream is bigger than me.”
One of her proudest moments? “Seeing a woman wear Dioactive and light up with confidence. That’s something I’ll never get used to.”
Looking Ahead
The fashion industry in Botswana, she believes, is on the rise. “There’s a creative wave here. People want homegrown brands they can trust. Botswana is just getting started.”
For her, fashion is identity. “In African culture, fashion is storytelling. It’s pride. It’s power. It speaks before we do.”
And as for sustainability? “Absolutely, it matters. We’re small but intentional. We create with care, and as we grow, sustainable production will always be a priority.”
Dioactive is more than activewear. It’s a movement, a message, and a celebration of every woman finding her strength in every stage of her journey.
Because every step, every sweat, every story deserves to be seen, and styled, with purpose.
