Football legend and philanthropist Didier Drogba has taken on a new challenge, stepping into the role of Global Ambassador for Zotus City Development Group (ZCDG). The announcement was made by Zotus Group CEO Davison Simango at the Pula Global Expo 2025 in Gaborone, where leaders from across the continent gathered to discuss Africa’s next big growth frontiers.
The Expo, Botswana’s flagship investment and trade gathering, attracted top figures from government and business, including President Advocate Duma Boko. His attendance set the tone for a renewed national push towards innovation, infrastructure, and sustainable growth.
Taking to the stage, Drogba shared his excitement about the partnership, describing it as a step toward reshaping Africa’s urban future.
“This is more than just building a city,” he said. “It’s about creating hope and opportunities that can inspire generations. Botswana is showing what’s possible when vision meets purpose.”
At the heart of this collaboration is Zotus City, a groundbreaking smart city rising in Ghanzi, Botswana. The development will stretch across 4,000 hectares, weaving together clean energy, modern logistics, digital innovation, and inclusive community planning. Designed as a Special Economic Zone, it will serve as a regional hub along the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, connecting people, ideas, and industries.
Beyond its futuristic vision, the project aims to empower local communities and attract global investment while promoting sustainability at every level. Drogba’s appointment signals not just celebrity endorsement, but a shared belief in Africa’s ability to define its own modern destiny.
From the football pitch to the frontlines of social change, Didier Drogba has always been more than an athlete. His partnership with Zotus City reflects that same spirit, building not just structures, but a future where Africa’s potential takes center stage.
